Aristotle's Dance
There's a mean spirited rumor
that we're doing this to ourselves.
Half of these problems come courtesy
of our dark-sided desire to let things
slide and see what happens.
So we can invent our heroism in invented battles.
I was hoping we each were our own visionaries.
Identifying the real problems.
I refuse to find out we're chasing some
eternal golden ring suspended from our hat brim.
That would be a knee to the crotch
of our Aristotelian conceit of purpose.
But maybe what we've invented isn't really
going anywhere after anything.
We're just dancing like hell in one place.
And it's right here.
Right now.
